چکیده
This case report concerns a 1-day-old, full-term Quarter Horse colt presented due to progressive inability rise and nurse. Besides the general weakness, marked bradycardia was evident, which caused by third-degree atrioventricular (AV) block. Subsequently, diagnosis of acute nutritional myodegeneration (NMD) made based on clinical signs, elevated muscle enzymes, ECG findings, as well low serum selenium vitamin E values. Despite intensive care supportive therapy, foal´s condition deteriorated, euthanasia elected. Necropsy confirmed NMD revealed diffuse necrosis inflammatory infiltration skeletal myocardial musculature, cardiac conduction system might have resulted in complete AV

Carbamazepine induced atrial tachycardia with complete AV block.
BACKGROUND/AIM Carbamazepine, a widely used antiepileptic drug that has been used for the treatment of both partial and generalized seizures, for trigeminal neuralgia, as a mood stabilizer and for treatment of neuropathic pain syndromes, may have negative chronotropic and dromotropic effects on the cardiac conduction system. DESCRIPTION OF CASE We report a case of cardiac syncope due to atria...
متن کاملAcute colchicine intoxication complicated with complete AV block.
Colchicine, is an old and well-known drug, used for treatment of rheumatic diseases. Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea are the clinical symptoms of colchicine poisoning. Cardiotoxicity can lead to mortality. We report a case of colchicine intoxication complicated with complete heart block. A 9-year-old patient ingesting colchicine 0.4-0.5 mg/kg was transferred because of elevation ...
متن کاملComplete Congenital Heart Block in a Neonatal Lupus Erythematosus Associated with Pulmonary Involvement without Pacemaker Implantation: A Case Report
Background: Neonatal lupus erythematosus is an uncommon disease. Congenital complete heart block (CCHB) usually happens in neonates with maternal systemic lupus erythematosus. The most prevalent presentation of CCHBis bradycardiathatcanbediagnosed through an electrocardiogram. Case report: Here in, we present the case of a full-term male neonate with gestational age of 37 weeks and birth weigh...
متن کاملSkin malformations in a neonatal foal tested homozygous positive for Warmblood Fragile Foal Syndrome
BACKGROUND Skin malformations that resembled manifestations of Ehlers-Danlos-Syndrome were described in a variety of domestic animals during the last century as cutis hyperelastica, hyperelastosis cutis, dermatosparaxis, dermal/collagen dysplasia, dermal/cutaneous asthenia or Ehlers-Danlos-like syndrome/s. In 2007, the mutation responsible for Hereditary Equine Regional Dermal Asthenia (HERDA) ...
متن کاملAntimicrobial selection in the neonatal foal
Infectious disease is an important cause of morbidity and mortality in the neonatal foal with approximately 8% of foals affected by some form of infectious complication in the first 30 days of life in one recent study. Early recognition and treatment of infectious complications in the neonatal period is important to maximise outcome. The purposes of this article are to review antimicrobial sele...
